Yolanda is a stoic by nature (think Marcus Aurelias), and believes:
The way to be truly happy is to understand the things I can control and those I cannot, and to accept what I cannot control. I have many (s)heroes and have tried to model my journey after those who have made a difference in the lives of others. I started a habit when my children were born (and now continue with my granddaughters), of speaking “I am” statements to them – an old behavior analyst tool I used with clients to help them believe in the possibility of anything for their lives!
In her spare time, Yolanda is a professional photographer (focusing mostly on fashion), and has won awards for her photography! Be sure to connect with Yolanda to learn more about her photography, and for a deeper understanding of her invaluable work in the world of Inclusion, Belonging, Diversity, and Equity.
Yolanda leaves us with her favorite quote, from author Marianne Williamson:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be?
